Caribbean Vistas is engaged in the production of fine art depictions of life in the Caribbean - past and present. In addition to being photographs of Caribbean life that anyone can enjoy, these images are intended to serve as portals through which many Caribbean expatriates can reconnect with their experiences growing up in the Caribbean.
Photo artist Leonard J. Horsford (known to most by his middle name, Jerry) has been a photographer for the past thirty years and has been producing fine art photography for sale to the public for the past three years. Jerry has had a fascination with photographic imagery dating back to his high school days in his native Grenada. Over the years he has compiled an inventory of images including natural and man-made subjects. “The focus of my art,” he says, “is to find beauty and meaning in everyday subjects that may be considered ordinary and/or insignificant. These subjects may range from the tiny clover’s bloom to imposing man-made structures, or even the elegance of a simple stream. Using these diverse subjects to present a perspective that speaks of beauty and meaning is the thread that connects them all.”

In his early years Bryan gladly went along with his older brother Jerry on his various photographic adventures, but never took photography as seriously as his brother did. Encouraged by Jerry to take up the craft, Bryan first saw photography as a way to quickly capture images for later use in his drawings and paintings. However, he began putting more time and effort into photography and eventually grew to appreciate it as an art form all its own. “In my images, I try to capture the beauty that surrounds us everyday but which we often miss as we speed along the busy highways and byways of our daily lives. Many of my photographs are taken along roads and trails that I travel daily. The images I produce are what I see when I stand still for a minute to look around." Bryan and his wife Pamella currently reside in southern New Jersey.
